A popular hangout in Portland's trendy Northwest 23rd neighborhood, The Rams Head is housed in "The Campbell", a residential hotel (now high-end condos) built in 1912. The Rams Head has a dignified-but-jaunty air, just a step down off the sidewalk, like a British men's club dotted with psychedelic wall doodles. With its coffered ceilings, stamped-tin wainscoting, and comfy couches, its quiet sophistication makes Rams Head a destination for visitors and locals alike (their urban-war-weary arms taxed with sacks from nearby Pottery Barn, Restoration Hardware, and Music millennium, a local indie music store fave). Outdoor seating on a warm summers day may be hard to find as patrons enjoy frosty handcrafted ales, often accompanied by a tongue-wagging canine or two.

Hours: Monday through Thursday, 11 a.m. to Midnight; Friday and Saturday, Noon to 1 a.m.; Sunday, Noon to 11 p.m.
